JOHN'S BIO

John came from a long line of Florida-born families dating back to the 1840's, when the United States purchased Florida from Spain. As homesteaders, they settled around Citrus, Hernando, and Sumter counties along the Withlacoochee River, planting orange groves and rounding up the wild cattle left behind by the Spanish.  He is proud of his heritage, including the spiritual and musical traditions passed down to him.

Though raised in church, he was lured away to use his talents of writing and performing music to pursue a career in country music.  John knew in order to do that; he would have to go and do things that were not pleasing to the Lord.  Like the Prodigal Son, he walked out on God's plans for his life.  And, like the Prodigal Son, his life ended up in the hog pen of life.  However, God used his brother's death to turn John back to Him.  He surrendered his life to the Lord including his musical talents, abandoning the desire for fame and fortune, to take up the cross and the plow never to look back.

God has used John's gifts extensively for His glory by allowing him to be in the music ministry for over 35 years.  John has written over 70 gospel songs across six records that have impacted the lives of many.  He traveled with a group for ten years, witnessing thousands come to the Lord, transforming their lives forever.  John received recognition from the Christian Country Music Association, earning awards for New Artist of the Year in 1999, Male Vocalist of the Year in 2000 and 2001, Song Writer of the Year, and a #1 single on gospel music charts.

Although singing and performing on television at the famous Ryman Auditorium was exciting, John dropped out of the spotlight to focus on his local ministry in Florida. His heart has always been for the local small church, where he has never charged for performances.  God continues to meet his needs for ministry expenses through music sales and love offerings, allowing him to continue writing and recording songs.  John feels truly blessed to remain in ministry, seeing souls saved and lives re-dedicated through sharing his testimony and the Word of God.  He considers himself a musical evangelist rather than a Christian entertainer and requests prayer for continued church ministry opportunities.
